Sprint Cup Series Live Stream Race Nascar Kansas STP 400 June 5, 2011

Watch Live Stream Nascar Sprint Cup

At this race weekend, in a change to qualifying procedure, cars required to qualify on speed in NASCAR's top three divisions -- designated by blue squares on NASCAR's timing and scoring monitors -- no longer will make their individual qualifying runs as a group at the end of a time-trial session, NASCAR confirmed Friday.

The change goes into effect immediately in the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series. The Sprint Cup Series will implement the new procedure next weekend at Pocono.
Under the new format, the go-or-go-home cars will be interspersed with cars from the top 35 in owner points that are guaranteed starting spots. Qualifying order will be set by speeds established in the first practice session, with slowest going out first and fastest qualifying last.
That represents a radical change from a system under which cars required to qualify on speed -- typically some of the slowest cars in the field -- nevertheless made their runs as a group at the end of the session.
NASCAR felt the change was appropriate, given that qualifying order is being set by practice speeds this year, not by lot, as in previous seasons.

Camping World Truck Series Live Stream Nascar Race Kansas Speedway O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 June 4, 2011

Watch Live Streaming Camping World Truck Series

Today is the race. For all that went right for Todd Bodine last season in the Camping World Truck Series, about as much has already gone wrong for the reigning series champion in 2011.

Bodine, seeking to become the first driver to claim consecutive Truck titles, finds himself in a huge hole seven races into the season.

The two-time champion has one top-10 finish, has led all of two laps and is a distant 11th in the standings.

Such statistics would have been virtually unfathomable in the preseason for a driver who rolled up 20 top-10s, including four victories, en route to rendering last year's title fight little more than a snooze-fest.

But as Bodine points out, reigning truck champs don't customarily have it easy.

Sprint Cup STP 400 Nascar Live Stream Kansas Speedway Race June 5 2011

Watch Live Stream Nascar Sprint Cup

Sprint Cup series back on track this weekend at Kansas Speedway. As the race weekend approaches fans are putting in their bets for which driver will come away with the victory in the STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Will it be one of the drivers who have previous wins at Kansas or will we see a new winner at the 1.5 mile tri-oval this Sunday?  Since the Speedway opened in 2001, there have been 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup races and seven different Sprint Cup winners.

If we see a new winner this weekend at Kansas Speedway, who could it be?
Surprisingly enough in 30 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Kansas Speedway, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has only three top-five and eight top 10 finishes. Could this be the race where RCR finally gets into victory lane at Kansas Speedway, if so which RCR driver will come out on top?
Which leads us to local favorite, Clint Bowyer who gave RCR their best finish here, second, in 2007 and he could be the driver to get RCR to victory lane for the first time at Kansas Speedway. Bowyer’s season is off to a strong start, he is currently eighth in the point standings. He is a driver fans should keep their eye on for a victory this weekend.
After a third-place finish last year, his best-ever finish at Kansas Speedway, “The Closer” Kevin Harvick could come away with a victory for RCR this weekend. He has already posted three wins this season, and he is a definite contender to dethrone Jimmie Johnson as the NASCAR Sprint Cup champion.
Another first time winner could be another local favorite, Carl Edwards. Edwards has one NASCAR Camping World truck series victory, but is yet to find victory lane in the Sprint Cup series at Kansas. Edwards is leading the points and is definitely a contender to win this weekend.
Fresh off a Nationwide Series victory last weekend at Charlotte, Matt Kenseth could be the next new Sprint Cup winner at Kansas. Kenseth already has two wins this season at Texas and Dover and he will be one of the drivers fans should expect to be fast this weekend at Kansas Speedway.
Or it could be Red Bull driver Kasey Kahne. Kahne has been running strong in recent weeks. Last week at Charlotte, Kahne was leading on the final restart, but fell two laps short running out of fuel. Kahne has already seen victory lane at Kansas in a NASCAR Nationwide Series race, and has won the pole for a Sprint Cup race at Kansas twice. He is familiar with the fast groove around the speedway, and fans should watch for a strong run from Kahne this weekend.
Fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr., came close to ending his losing streak last week at Charlotte, but fell 500-feet short, running out of fuel after leading the field to the white flag. He comes to Kansas sitting fourth in the standings, his best ranking at this point since 2008, his first year with Hendrick Motorsports. Earnhardt Jr. is getting closer and closer to ending his losing streak and his first victory of 2011 could come at Kansas Speedway this weekend.

Kimi Raikkonen Officially Run Nationwide at Charlotte

Watch Nationwide Live Streaming Here
KIMI RÄIKKÖNEN RETURNS TO NASCAR THIS WEEKEND FOR HIS DEBUT IN THE NATIONWIDE SERIES AFTER A SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE IN THE CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES

Perky Jerky unveiled today the paint scheme set to adorn the No. 87 Toyota Nationwide Series race car that Kimi Räikkönen will race in his return to NASCAR
this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This race will mark Räikkönen’s second NASCAR performance in as many weeks, with Perky Jerky
as the primary sponsor.

On May 20th, Räikkönen made his first appearance in NASCAR when he competed in the Camping World Truck Series. Amidst a crush of media
and international fans, the Finnish racer qualified 31st in the field and piloted his truck to complete the race in 15th position, an epic performance
for his first time in a NASCAR truck and on a speedway. Räikkönen described his first NASCAR experience as “fun”, and commented that he’s
looking forward to another NASCAR performance, where he can put his first education into practice.

The NEMCO-owned No. 87 Perky Jerky Toyota will be assembled, managed and fielded by Kyle Busch Motorsports on behalf of Perky Jerky.

“Last week, Kimi put on an incredibly impressive performance at Charlotte Motor Speedway by powering his Perky Jerky truck through half the
pack”, said Brian Levin, Perky Jerky founder and chairman of the herd. “Now with one speedway race under his belt, the world will be watching
as Kimi Räikkönen brings the No. 87 Perky Jerky Toyota to the finish line in first place.”

Already entrenched in NASCAR as the official and exclusive jerky of the Daytona 500, Perky Jerky has developed a marketing strategy that
includes consumer sampling via Velcro suits, better known as the “jerk suit” and tasting opportunities via the “jerk bar”, a traveling sampling
display, which has become a must-stop at many NASCAR events around the country.

Kimi Räikkönen’s first Nationwide Series appearance will be this Saturday, May 28th in the Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The
race will be broadcast live HERE at 2:30 ET.
About Perky Jerky: Four years ago during a ski lift calamity, Perky Jerky’s founders spilled energy drink all over their stash of beef jerky.
Stranded, hungry and 40-feet off the ground, they ate the soaked jerky and realized they were on to something. Three years in the kitchen and
hundreds of homemade jerky recipes later, Perky Jerky was perfected and launched in 2009. In less than two years, Perky Jerky has quickly
reached stratospheric levels of popularity amongst athletes, moms, students, troops and truckers alike. Perky Jerky can be found at many
retailers across the country, including Home Depot, 7-Eleven, Publix, Target, Sports Authority and many other fine retailers.

Nascar Coca Cola 600 Sprint Cup Series Charlotte Motor Speedway Live Streaming 29 May 2011

Watch Nascar Coca Cola 600 Live Streaming
Nascar Sprint Cup Charlotte Motor Speedway Live Streaming May 2011. The Coca-Cola 600 has always been one of the most challenging events on the NASCAR calendar, but in the current age of parity, it has become more difficult still. Buoyed by free passes and wave-arounds, running well is no longer a guarantee of a strong finish as more and more cars cross under the checkers on the same lap as the leader. Last year in this race, after 600 grueling miles were in the books, 24 drivers remained on the lead lap, which meant that a mistake in the closing stages could be devastating for both the NASCAR driver who made it and the unlucky fantasy owner with him on the roster. That number was helped along by eight caution flags, and the yellow flag is bound to wave fairly often in the space of four and a half hours this week, as well.

The similarly configured, 1.5-mile tracks can also be prone to surprises. Kurt Busch was having an up-and-down year when the series rolled into Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2010. He had finished outside the top 15 in two of his three previous attempts and that erratic behavior was the standard for the season. It didn't keep him from dominating the Coke 600, however, as he qualified on the outside of the front row and led 252 of the 400 laps. That success kick-started his summer; Busch went on to earn four more top-10s in the next five races and his only bad result came on the road course of Infineon Raceway.
No one has more momentum for now than Carl Edwards and that was enough to propel him to a strong showing at Darlington Raceway a couple of weeks ago -- a track on which he normally struggles. Likewise, Charlotte hasn't always been his strongest course, but he has been the master of several other high-speed tracks such as Atlanta, Texas and Michigan. Last week, he was the driver to beat once again at Dover until more than a half-dozen drivers gambled on two tires and mired him in the pack. It's hard to know how the end of a 600-mile race will resolve itself, but it's a good gamble that Edwards will be in the hunt in the final run to the checkers.
When Johnson started stumbling at Charlotte, Kyle Busch was right there to take his place. As soon as the driver of the No. 48's 11-race top-10 streak ended in the fall of 2007 (with a 14th), Busch picked up the mantle and has been wearing it since. His top-10 streak stands at seven consecutive races and includes five top-fives and a worst result of only eighth. Last year, he finished third in the Coke 600 and was second in Charlotte's 500-mile race in the fall, which gives him momentum and a great set of notes. His performance in the Camping World Truck Series race last weekend was impressive and worth noting because he did not have the fastest truck all night. Busch even spun with a too loose condition early in the race, but he overcame the handicap by sheer force of will and passed Bowyer in the closing laps for the victory.

Raikkonen to make Nationwide run, but still debating F1

Watch Nascar Charlotte Live Stream on Sport Channel 1

Kimi Raikkonen has bucked his recent trend of persistent denials by conceding that perhaps F1 isn't a closed book for him after all - as he prepares to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut with NEMCO Motorsports
Kimi Raikkonen will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series bow in this coming weekend's Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, it has been confirmed – as the former F1 World Champion has again evoked the notion of an eventual return to the grand prix grid.

After finishing a respectable 15th from 31st on his Camping World Truck Series debut for Kyle Busch Motorsports in last Friday night's North Carolina Education Lottery 200 around the same 1.5-mile Charlotte oval – a race won by team-mate Kyle Busch, and in which Raikkonen twice swiped the wall and endured a pit miscommunication – the Finn had been elusively non-committal about the likelihood of him graduating to Nationwide competition just a week later, conceding only that 'we'll see'.

The publication of the Top Gear 300 entry list, however, has blown the 18-time grand prix-winner's cover, naming him as the driver of the #87 NEMCO Motorsports Toyota owned by Joe Nemechek, who has done a deal with Busch, whose own team is not in possession of a Nationwide licence. As to what the future holds beyond that, however, the 'Ice Man' is characteristically vague, save to admit that competing in some Sprint Cup races – NASCAR's uppermost tier – 'would be nice'.

“I don't have big plans,” he is quoted as having said by The Associated Press. “I don't have any plans for next year or anything of what I do. I'll see how it is, because I didn't have any expectations when I came here. It's a bit like when I went to rallying – I didn't have much expectation, I wanted to see how it is.

“It's the same story here. For sure, it's a different sport, a different type of racing than what we have in Europe. It's very popular here and maybe it looks easy, but it's not so easy to be fast. I'll try to do my best and we'll see how it goes and what the future will bring. There's not an awful lot of planning to be done, and I really don't want to hurry the situation. We go step-by-step and see what happens.

“If I completely suck here, there's probably no reason to come back. I mean, I don't know yet. Like I said, we go day-by-day and see how it goes, and what comes in the future, comes. Like I said, at the moment, I have no plans for next year, so it's too early to think about it.”

Erstwhile McLaren-Mercedes team-mate Juan-Pablo Montoya has opined that in order to truly succeed across the Pond, Raikkonen needs to relocate there lock, stock and barrel, but that would engender a long-term NASCAR commitment – and judging by his recent admissions, it would seem that despite persistent denials, the 31-year-old is still not entirely convinced that he has fully turned his back on an F1 career that began back in 2001.

“Currently, I don't miss F1,” he is quoted as saying by The Examiner, having walked away from the top flight when he was prematurely released by Ferrari at the end of 2009. “I wanted to do different things and now have had a great opportunity to try NASCAR. I haven't said I will never go back to F1.”

Nascar - Camping World Truck Series Race, Charlotte Motor Speedway Kimi Raikkonen Debut 21 May 2011

Kimi Raikkonen's first appearance on a NASCAR oval has gone ahead, with the former world champion qualifying in 31st position for his first Truck Series appearance at Charlotte.
Kimi Raikkonen has qualified in 31st position for his first NASCAR Truck Series outing on the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

After two solid practice runs in the morning which saw Raikkonen place a consistent 30th position in both, with few dramas save for the typical power slide and wall scrape that are standard for the series, the 2007 F1 world champion put in another conservative but confident drive to ensure that the #15 Perky Jerky Toyota would make the starting line-up of the evening race.

The pressure on Raikkonen was relaxed somewhat when it was clear that there were fewer entrants than expected. In the end, only one truck - that of Norm Benning - failed to qualify.

Timothy Peters qualified on pole ahead of Sprint Cup regular Clint Bowyer. Raikkonen's team owner, Kyle Busch, qualified in sixth while another formr F1 driver, Nelson Piquet Jr., also qualified in the top ten. Raikkonen was visited in the garage area by his former McLaren etam mate Juan Montoya who offered words of advice and encouragement, at what was their first reunion in several yeas.

At his first NASCAR press conference, Raikkonen was forthright about what he was doing here this weekend: "I wanted to see how it is, how it feels. If I suck, there's no reason to come back. We'll see how it goes." The assembled media were reportedly a little taken aback by the impassive demeanour that F1 fans know well and love from the "Iceman."

The race takes place at 8pm ET, 1am BST and will be carried live and free-to-air on the Sky platform on channel 433 by Premier Sports TV.

Nascar - Camping World Truck Series Qualifying, Charlotte Motor Speedway 21 May 2011

Kimi Raikkonen's first appearance on a NASCAR oval has gone ahead, with the former world champion recording a steady 30th position in both morning practice sessions at Charlotte.

The 2007 F1 world champion arrived in the strange world of NASCAR ovals, and ... it was all absolutely fine. There were no reported dramas, no incidents, and while Kimi Raikkonen didn't dazzle the paddock with particularly stunning runs, a consistent 30th position in both session timesheets will do very nicely for the new boy, thank you very much.

Another 30th position would comfortably see Raikkonen into the race if repeated in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series qualifying this afternoon at 4pm ET (9pm BST) at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Also involved in Friday Truck practice was Raikkonen's team owner, Kyle Busch, who was comfortably in the top ten in both sessions, as was Kimi's fellow F1 alumni Max Papis. Nelson Piquet Jr. was 15th in the early practice before moving up into tenth in the later session.

Nascar - Sprint All-Star Race, Charlotte Motor Speedway 21 May 2011

Showdown could be as competitive as main event

JGR gives nod to McDowell, Herring at Iowa; Said to compete in No. 32 at CMS

The format of Saturday's Sprint All-Star Race alone -- a 100-lap race with a 10-lap dash to the finish -- all but guarantees the sort of intensity we've come to expect from the non-points race for a $1 million top prize.

With one of the most potent fields in its history, the Sprint Showdown, the qualifying race that precedes the All-Star Race and sends two drivers on to the main event, could be every bit as interesting.

Topping the list of Showdown competitors is Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is not guaranteed a spot in the All-Star Race under current eligibility rules. Earnhardt won the All-Star Race in 2000 but is beyond the 10-year window for past race winners.

Likewise, 2000 Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte has aged out of eligibility for a race that guarantees a berth to Cup champions from the past 10 years. Perennial Chase contender Jeff Burton must fight his way into the main event through the Showdown; in addition to the All-Star Race winners and Cup champions of the past decade, the event is open to Cup race winners from the previous and current years, and Burton, like Earnhardt, hasn't won a race since 2008.

After the Showdown, the final spot in the All-Star Race field goes to the driver not otherwise eligible who wins the Sprint Fan Vote.

The list of Showdown drivers also includes A.J. Allmendinger, a front-row starter last Sunday at Dover; Marcos Ambrose, who finished third in the Dover race; Joey Logano, 2009 rookie of the year; and Brian Vickers, who won a race and qualified for the Chase in 2009 before being sidelined by medical issues last year.

Add to that group David Ragan, Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard, any of whom could be in the mix for the win.

Accordingly, the Showdown for the two transfer spots to the main event could be just as competitive as the All-Star Race itself.
Said heads to Charlotte

Boris Said will attempt to make the Sprint All-Star Race for the first time in his career, as FAS Lane Racing is fielding the No. 32 Ford for him for the Sprint Showdown. The 48-year-old Said, an accomplished road racer, regularly competes in the Sprint Cup events at Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International, both road-course venues. His best finish last season came at Infineon, where he finished eighth.

His best finish on an oval came in the 2006 summer race at Daytona, when he finished fourth after qualifying on the pole.

Gibbs giving McDowell, Herring a shot

Bravo to Joe Gibbs Racing for supporting one of the most important functions of the Nationwide Series -- its developmental aspect.

You won't see Kyle Busch and Logano in JGR's No. 18 and No. 20 Toyotas this weekend when the Nationwide Series races at Iowa Speedway. Instead, Michael McDowell and Drew Herring will be driving those two formidable machines.

McDowell, 26, has 72 starts in the Nationwide Series, but none this year -- and none in equipment comparable to the No. 18 Toyota he'll drive in Sunday's John Deere Dealers 250. The No. 18 is the ride in which Busch has won five of the 10 Nationwide races he's entered this season.

McDowell is perhaps best known for walking away from a spectacular crash in Sprint Cup qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2008. This season, he has maintained a presence in the garage by starting and parking for Phil Parsons' No. 66 Cup team.

A former instructor for the Bondurant Driving School in Phoenix, McDowell also happens to be one of the most likable, unassuming drivers on the circuit, and Iowa is an ideal place for him to showcase his talents. In 2009, McDowell posted one of his six top-10s in the Nationwide Series at Iowa, in a Dodge sponsored by a Honda dealership.

Herring, 23, has four Nationwide starts to his credit, practise all last year in the No. 27 Baker Curb Ford. His best finish came at Iowa -- 15th. As a teenager, Herring raced against JGR driver Denny Hamlin in Late Model stock cars.

The opportunity to drive a car as strong as the Gibbs Toyotas is a rarity. Now it's up to the drivers to do something with it.
The End
