At this 5th race weekend in this year, MotoGP World Championship 2011 encounters an intense period of
activity across the months of June and July, with six races taking place
in the space of eight weekends. The Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya gets
the stretch underway this weekend, as the campaign enters a demanding
section of this season’s schedule, one which will shape the Championship
substantially.
MotoGP officials have requested via a statement that Marco Simoncelli
speaks to stewards at this weekend’s Catalan Grand Prix. The Italian was
the other half in the accident which resulted in Dani Pedrosa’s latest
injuries last time out in France.
Following the coming together at Le Mans’ Chemin aux Boeufs corner,
Pedrosa was diagnosed with a broken collarbone and have to
skip his home race in Barcelona. Repsol Honda has confirmed Dani Pedrosa
will not race at this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix after being unable
to fully recover from his recent collarbone surgery in time.
In the Championship Standings, Jorge Lorenzo still 12 points ahead of Casey Stoner followed by Repsol Hondas Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso 17 and 28 points respectively. While Valentino Rossi trying to catch up with the youngsters, currently 5th with 31 from Lorenzo. The Trio of Repsol Honda predicted to be front runner again at Catalunya, we shall see.
